It's time to level up your life
Build a Creative Business to be Proud of with a Sew Confident Franchise!
A creative career path where we build YOUR business together!
What if I told you that the aspirational, Instagramable, creative business-boss-life was just a few steps away from being your reality...yes YOU!
I'm talking about setting your own hours, managing your own handpicked team, sewing and crafting FOR WORK, being part of an amazing team of fellow business owners on the same journey as you. I'm also talking about providing an amazing social, creative space for your customers, making loads of crafty new pals, and genuinely helping people, de-stress, make new friends and enrich their lives with a wonderful creative hobby.
Does that sound like a worthwhile use of your life and expertise? YEP!
Imagine this testamonial was written about you...
Believe it or not, you can love your business and the freedom it gives you AND create amazing, sometimes life changing experiences for your customers. the two aren't mutually exclusive!
I know what you are thinking...I don't have any experience in business/teaching/marketing/accounts OR I'm not a professional sew-er. Well let me stop you there because you don't have to be any of these things. If you are an intermediate level sew-er and by that I mean you have a few projects under your belt and you tick one of the below criteria I want to chat to you:
If you don't think you fit 2 of the criteria above I'm going to tell you a statistic and I'll let you change your mind on whether you think you should get in touch or not. It is well documented that when applying for jobs, men look at the requirements and in their mind only need to fit 60% of the criteria before going for it. Women on the other hand only apply if they fit 100% of the criteria. Once you are aware of this statistic, as a women you should constantly be overriding the doubt and chucking your hat in the ring anyway. So now does that change your mind?
What about those gaps in your knowledge though?
Well, the entire point of a franchise is that you get to use our proven model, our systems, our accountants, our contacts, you get to tap into over a decades worth of business acumen which let me tell includes a whole load of mistakes I don't want anyone making again(been there done that!). Crucially, you become part of a collective of like-minded creative individuals all on the same journey benefitting from each others success where in a parallel universe somewhere you would be fierce competitors.
Who am I to be leading this creative gang of amazing business owners anyway?
Well, I have been doing this for a long time. I started the business when I was 24 in 2012( a decade ago!) and in that time I have grown my business to multi 6 figures, consistantly profitable, a team of 4 employees and 11 freelance tutors, I'm an Amazon #1 best selling author with my business book Stop Playing Small, I'm an advocate for women owning and growing BIG businesses DESPITE society still wanting to keep us in the kitchen and of course I started the UKs only sewing tuiton franchise. If that isn't enough it may be known that I love a party so the annual strategy trips abroad and the Christmas parties will definitely be good fun. And they said starting your business was going to be lonely as well! Not with us it won't!
What is the Process Anyway?
Good question! If you know anything about franchising you'll know it's not as simple as "I would like to buy this - SOLD". We don't offer franchises to anyone who wants one, infact I would rather never sell another franchise to anyone than sell one to the wrong person. We are entering into a 5 year relationship essentially, so you can bet we will be doing our due diligence and we expect you to do the same with us! We're looking for someone who is the right fit for our brand and the network and you need to make sure we are the right fit for you and your life too.
Step 1
Fill out the franchise enquiry form
HINT - the more info you put in this the better. If you leave us one word answers you'll be waiting a LOOONG time for a reply. We once had someone say the location they wanted a franchise was "in their livingroom". Needless to say we didn't get back to them. We won't waste your time by responding unless we know you're seriously interested.
Step 2
Let's chat!
We will jump on a zoom so you can get to know us a bit more and we can get to know you. We will answer all your questions and tell you a lot more about the franchise and how it works.
Step 3
Let's meet!
We will invite you to spend some time with us in the Glasgow flagship store. You can experience a class, what it's like behind the scenes and we will get to know you a bit better face to face!
Step 4
Reserve your territory!
When you have decided you want to go for it, and we want to jump in with you, it's time to reserve your territory. We take a refundable deposit and secure your franchise territory so no one else can work with us in that area
Step 5
Find a site!
You will start looking for the perfect site for your franchise, with our help. Your local knowledge is vital here and we provide you with a property schedule so you know what we look for in a successful site. Once you find a few we will visit them with you and help you choose the best one!
Step 6
Sign on the dotted line!
You've found the site, you like us, we like you, it's time to sign the full agreement to become a fully fledged Sew Confident franchisee. You'll be enrolled into our full training programme, we will start planning your opening day launch event, scheduling your classes and ramping up your marketing so EVERYONE knows you're opening soon! Welcome to the team!
This process normally takes about 3-6 months. We have 2 franchisee intakes each year normally one in September and one in February. There is obviously a lot more detail to the process than what is outlined above but that is what the call is for, and for you to ask us any questions you might have that haven't been answered here. So get in touch and let's get started shall we?
Frequently asked questions
Here are a few answers to our most common questions
What is a franchise?
A franchise is a “business in a box” and generally includes everything you need to start a business tomorrow. You benefit from the franchisors business experience, market knowledge, business acumen, processes, branding, reputation etc. The chances of success with a franchise are significantly higher than the chances of success with a start up. Franchisors will have years of experience, business contacts, and a lot of lessons learned under their belt that you will immediately have the benefit of! Companies such as Subway and McDonalds tend to spring to mind when talking about franchises but there are a lot of small franchises too.
Sew Confident is the ONLY sewing tuition franchise available in the UK. We are also the biggest sewing tuition company in the UK with multiple sites across Scotland and England. Now is the best time to get involved!
I have no business experience is that ok?
You don’t need business experience to be awarded a Sew Confident Franchise but you do need some sewing experience. Business experience would, of course be advantageous but we train you up on everything from using our accountancy software, to creating a successful marketing campaign, to finding the perfect staff members. We’re also at the end of the phone should you get stuck or be unsure of anything.
Can anyone buy a Sew Confident Franchise?
The short answer is no. We are very careful with who we consider for our franchises because we want them to succeed, fit in with the existing network and be the perfect brand ambassador for Sew Confident. Before awarding a franchise we have several meetings to ensure you are the right fit for us, have the right attitude and mindset and that we are right for you too.
What does the franchise fee include?
The franchise fee includes everything you need to open your own Sew Confident franchise tomorrow. This is all your machines, equipment, retail offering*, software, social media accounts, email access, brand license, webpage, furniture*, signage*, and of course extensive training. Training includes, ongoing marketing training, using our booking software, using social media for business, HR training, accountancy practises and of course how to run our Sew Confident classes and create the perfect social environment. We have a mobile version of the franchise called Franchise Light that includes everything you need to start a mobile sewing tuition franchise.
*Full franchise only
How much do I need to invest?
The UK average franchise fee is £42,200 and we are significantly less than this. Our franchise fee is £15,000 for the Full Franchise and £7500 for the Light Franchise. You’ll need working capital and might have costs such as premises fit out and legal fees too but we will advise you of all potential costs because we’ve been there done that! All businesses require investment to start with – we have some finance partners we can put you in touch with if necessary.
Can I work my franchise around my current job?
It depends what package you go for. Owning your own Full Franchise with the studio is a full time commitment so unless you have a business partner and you are both planning on working part time you would need to work in the Sew Confident franchise full time. However the Light Franchise which is mobile is more flexible and need around 25 hours a week of your time. If you work more you’ll make more money and can at a later date decide to upgrade to the Full Franchise to further increase your income! Both franchise models are flexible however and can be worked around your family commitments. We pride ourselves on being parent friendly and allowing the flexibility to have a family and a business, why should it be one or the other?
